Food Safety, App Limitations & Responsibility

Last updated: 10 October 2026

EverCycle is operated by Alakshendra Swarup (“we” or “us”). It helps you organise pantry records, review receipt details and find meal ideas.

EverCycle does not inspect your food, measure storage temperatures, determine whether food is safe to eat or verify allergens. Do not rely on a recorded date, reminder, meal idea or other app content as confirmation that food is safe or suitable for you.

Check your food and packaging

Before using food:

  • Check the actual package date and follow storage, preparation and cooking instructions, including directions that apply after opening.
  • Do not eat food after its use-by date.
  • Check ingredients and allergen information.
  • Consider how the food has actually been stored and handled.

A best-before date relates to quality. Food may remain suitable after that date, depending on its condition and storage history. EverCycle cannot make that assessment.

Food can become unsafe before a recorded date if stored or handled incorrectly. Normal appearance or smell does not prove food is safe. Do not taste food to test its safety. If you are unsure whether food is safe, do not eat it.

Recorded dates and personal reminders

Check dates recorded in EverCycle against the packaging. Keep the distinction between a manufacturer’s use-by date, a best-before date and a personal reminder.

A reminder date you choose does not predict the food’s safe life or replace the manufacturer’s instructions. Changing a date in EverCycle does not extend the period in which food can safely be eaten.

Opening, cooking, freezing and thawing can change the storage instructions that apply. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance rather than assuming the original date or an app reminder remains appropriate.

Receipt scanning and pantry records

Receipt scanning can miss or misread product names, quantities, units and dates. Review and correct scanned details before saving or using them. A receipt’s purchase date does not establish a food’s use-by or best-before date.

Pantry records depend on the information you enter or confirm. They may not reflect what you currently have, how much remains or how it has been stored.

Notifications

Notifications depend on your device and settings and may be delayed or missed. Check package dates yourself even if no reminder arrives. The absence of a notification does not mean an item is safe.

Meal ideas, allergens and dietary needs

Meal ideas are general suggestions based on your records. They do not confirm the safety, freshness, availability or suitability of any ingredient.

Check every ingredient and the current packaging’s allergen information. For unpackaged food or unclear information, ask the supplier. Consider allergen cross-contact during preparation.

EverCycle cannot verify that a food or meal is allergen-free or appropriate for an allergy, intolerance or medical diet. Any preferences or filters available in the app do not replace these checks.

Use appropriate food-handling and cooking methods. Refrigerate perishable food at 5°C or colder, separate raw food from ready-to-eat food and follow reliable cooking-temperature guidance.

Learn, Insights and health information

Learn content provides general information. Insights reflect your recorded activity and may be incomplete or inaccurate. Any estimates depend on the entries and assumptions used.

EverCycle does not provide personalised medical or dietetic advice. Speak with a qualified health professional about your health, allergies or dietary requirements.

Pregnant people, young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems can be more seriously affected by foodborne illness and may need additional precautions.

If you think food has made you ill, seek medical advice. For health advice in Australia, call healthdirect on 1800 022 222. In a medical emergency, call 000.

Food recalls

EverCycle does not check your pantry against current food recalls. A date, reminder or meal suggestion does not mean a product is free from recall.

Check the Food Standards Australia New Zealand recalls website and follow the relevant recall instructions. The website requires an internet connection.

Liability and your legal rights

Subject to the legal rights described below, we are not liable for loss or damage caused solely by incorrect information you enter, or by your storage, handling or preparation of food contrary to the manufacturer’s instructions, where we have not caused or contributed to that loss or damage.

This exclusion does not apply to our negligence, breach of contract, misleading conduct or other unlawful conduct, including any resulting death or personal injury.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law and other applicable laws remain unaffected. These include any applicable consumer guarantees and rights to remedies or compensation. Nothing in this notice prevents you from making a complaint or pursuing a legal claim.
